Improving health and well-being
Improving the health and well-being of people throughout the world is the central thrust of the Clinical Trials Laboratory Services (CTLS), a leading clinical testing centre in the UK.
Clinical testing is an important part of medical care. All new medicines must be extensively tested to ensure that they work, are safe and don'tt have unacceptable side effects.
Based in London and established in 2001, CTLS undertakes rigorous testing of potential medicines to see if they should be approved for wider use in the general population.
The company is fronted by Dr. Rukhsana Ahsan, an international expert in laboratory techniques. She has a proven track record in the field of clinical trials, immunodiagnostics and clinical research for over 25 years, working in international laboratories, hospitals and medical schools. She has served as a consultant for global institutions, such as, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the World Heath Organisation (WHO) .
In addition to Dr. Ahsan's expertise, CTLS has a diverse and talented workforce, which enables it to address and deal with both national and international requirements, services and projects.
Dr. Ahsan says: "We are always striving to improve testing accuracy and processing speed, and working to develop new testing technology for the next generation of medical treatment.
"We would like to offer the local community an opportunity to volunteer for clinical trials and for health screening. Volunteers get paid for participation in clinical trials and get a free medical check up."
CTLS is a fully accredited GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) laboratory, backed up by latest equipment and information technology. Clients can have immediate remote access to data and CTLS provides round-the-clock laboratory and IT support.
CTLS is a client of Brent Business Venture (BBV). Dr. Ahsan says: "BBV's support came at a crucial time in our business. They helped to write up our business plan and direct us to potential funders.
"BBV has sound experience and understanding of the testing market and industry and speak our language. They continue to provide us with valuable advice and suggest practical ways of improving our business."
