Brent in2 Work: tapping local skills and talent
Assisting employers with tapping
into the wealth of skills and abilities available in Brent is one of the major priorities
of Brent in2 Work, an initiative of Brent Council.
Working in partnership with local businesses, Brent in2 Work's Recruitment and
Training Service aims to reduce the gap between Brent's deprived communities
and the rest of London.
Brent in2 Work offers local businesses:
- a specialised local recruitment service, through which an employer can find the most suitable, local candidates, without incurring costs
- free screening and vetting of candidates
- free advertising of vacancies to residents of Brent
- free customised training to potential employees, creating job-ready candidates
- free employee development training, for staff who are residents of Brent, each case up to £400
- free disability discrimination act training for employers and free consultancy for employers on equality and diversity policies.
The project has been active since the start of 2005 and is managed by Chantelle Daniel.
Chantelle says: "Our approach is employer-led. Candidates are screened and vetted exactly to the requirements set by the employer."
The project is currently working very closely with Wembley National Stadium and its contractors, helping them fill local positions.
