Can a refugee get support to set up a business?

If you are a refugee who is entitled to live and work in the United Kingdom, you can get support to help you set up a business or social enterprise.

Refugees are often representative of some of the most entrepreneurial elements of the societies they have been forced to leave. Several projects are underway in London on refugees and enterprise.

 Enterprise and Employment for Refugees Across London (EERAL)
Community Action Network(CAN)  is leading a consortium of agencies to support refugees into employment and enterprise in London.  This project provides five key integrated programmes: training and mentoring for social enterprise start-ups; training and mentoring for business start-ups; multi-skills construction industry training; ESOL courses and ICT training.Business and Social Enterprise support services include both workshops and one-to-one advice sessions covering areas such as personal management, business planning, management, accessing finance, marketing, legal structures, environmental and equal opportunities policies and best practices.
